REVIEWS

DESCRIPTION
This second edition of Dr. Kasenow's highly acclaimed first edition provides review and application in regard to the mechanics of ground-water flow and aquifer analysis.

The Easy To Use Theisian Tables were developed by Dr. Kasenow in order to facilitate an easy method to determine Theisian correction factors, µ and W(µ), for simple ground-water modeling. These tables contain over 1300 pairs of matching µ and W(µ) values that are required in the Theis solution to estimate discharge, drawdown, pumping time, observation distance, limit of the transient cone of depression, and specific capacity, when transmissivity and the storage coefficient can be estimated or are known. In addition, simple equations are provided that can be used when µ < 0.05. These tables also include values of Z(µ) and µW(µ) that match the coefficients µ and W(µ) from µ = 1.0 x1015 to µ = 5.0. The Z(µ) index is used with Sheahan's Z(µ) equation and the values of µW(µ) are utilized with Ogden's specific capacity solution. These tables are by far the most extensive Theisian tables that provide an ease of use, and this tool should be in the library of any ground-water engineer or researcher concerned with drawdown investigations.

Dr. Michael Kasenow is one of WRP's highly respected authors. He has gained an international reputation for his many achievements beyond the academic community in the field of aquifer analysis. He has developed many tools for the ground-water industry, which includes equations, software, and easy to use mathematical tables.

Here's what professional ground-water scientists are saying about Dr. Kasenow's research:

"He possesses a wonderfully articulate yet pragmatic method of conveying his thoughts, intuitions and application of theory. His work stands the test of time." --- Walter J. Bolt, Senior Project Manager, PM Environmental, Inc.

"Dr. Kasenow has shown both his creativity and drive to build on, rather than simply follow techniques developed by others. His books present relatively complex concepts in easy to understand graphic form without oversimplification." --- Dana R. Unangst, Project Manager, Insight Environmental Services, Inc.

"It is refreshing to see someone looking at alternatives to complicated and sometimes subjective curve matching techniques." --- Scott R. Green, Senior Hydrogeologist, Conestoga-Rovers & Associates.

"As President of a consulting firm, I am always concerned with balancing costs and providing clients with complete and thorough data evaluations. Dr. Kasenow's practical application techniques have allowed my firm to complete thorough data evaluations at lower costs. Once one uses Dr. Kasenow's data evaluation programs, you are left with the feeling of 'why did I waste my time with other programs?" --- Mark. B. Sweatman, CPG, President, Insight Environmental Services, Inc.
