The philosophy of this book brings together selected network design procedures that reflect upon the practical problem of monitoring water quality.

DESCRIPTION

This text focuses on the network design aspects of water quality monitoring. Network design is discussed in the context of stream and groundwater monitoring, in particular. This book strives to enhance the design of water quality monitoring networks through the use of statistical sampling design procedures and hydrological considerations. Many of the principles are applicable to monitoring efforts for lakes, reservoirs, or estuaries. A range of design techniques beginning with the more basic (which have the largest number of assumptions) and concluding with techniques that could be classified as intermediate are presented. Also, advanced, and therefore statistically sophisticated techniques, are referenced.

Design of Networks for Monitoring Water Quality is an excellent reference for the initial design or design refinement of a water quality monitoring network. Reprinted 2000, WRP.
