DESCRIPTION

This book defines the dependence of hydraulic conductivity on porous medium characteristics and properties of the fluid by means of theoretical and applied analysis. The book nears closure with graphical methods that are sometimes used to estimate hydraulic conductivity using grain-size analysis. The last chapter presents problems and resulting solution; however, example problems are presented throughout the book. Most of the chapters will contain equations that use metric or consistent units.

The computer program, "Grain-size Analysis", supplements the book, and can be used to estimate porosity and hydraulic conductivity from grain-size data. The program uses six of the ten methods presented and evaluated. It is a user friendly and runs under the PC Windows operating system.
